In flight pt4 - the final stretch into Kenya

Hey everyone! I'm official on my 3rd continent in under 24 hours! I had to take some pictures out the window on the way in. These are photos of the Rift Valley- quite amazing!

Once I landed, I had a bit of a problem getting cellphone service. For whatever reason, my iPhone wasn't accepting the sim card. I had to end up buying a simple phone with money placed on it.

Once through customs, I preceded on to the guest house. Driving in Kenya isn't much different than New York or Los Angeles. Everything is just flipped (drive on the left, steering wheel on the right). My drive, Gilbert, is amazing. He made me feel very welcomed in the country and took me to see the Maasai shops in downtown. The way they barter is amazing.

Later this evening, I had tea and cake with Mike & Evelyn. Two extraordinary people! They're definitely dedicated to Cura and the work being done there.

Sleep time now. I'm whipped.

In flight pt 3

I'm just over switzerland/ Italy, heading down towards Kenya. Surprisingly the flight is not that full so everyone can stretch out. We must be crossing jet streams because turbulence is a bit dodgy. It's kinda surreal. I remember studying these countries all through school. I never thought I'd be in near them! Albeit 35,000ft up. Haha.

Heathrow was wild. I've never in my life seen a complex that functions on so many levels operate so smoothly. It really is an engineering feat!

Next post will start the reason for my travels- the documentary for the children of Kenya.

Ps- if you have not done so, you need to watch the 27min documentary on YouTube about the LRA in Uganda. I believe the piece is called "Stop Kony." Everyone should take some time to view it.

Quick check in

Hey everyone. Just wanted to give a quick check in. It took about an hour to get through immigration (photos weren't allowed) and I've check into my room for a quick shower and nap. I'll be heading back to the plane shortly.

In flight pt2

Well I've watched three movies thus far:

My Week with Marilyn (must see!!!)
Drive (I'm not sure how I feel about it yet)
The muppets (pleasantly surprised!)

For those of you curious about what route the plane is taking, the photos below will give you an idea.

Next posting will come from the UK.

The flight

Well I'm on board the "Miss Behavin'." Yes, they named the plane! By the time this posts, I'll be on the ground in the UK- no wifi. There are also no power ports, so that rules my laptop out. Oh well at least I have over 60 movies to choose from! I think I'll start with "My Week with Marilyn" then move on to "Drive."

Ps- big thanks to Nick for driving me to the airport this morning!!

The day before

Well it's the eve of the start to my travels. Everything's packed, everything's organized, and the schedule is set out before me. Since I'm only in Africa for 12 days, I'll need to make the most of each day! Stay tuned for more exciting posts :)

Ps- I thought you would like to see what the plane looks like I'll be on. This thing is massive!!

Packing

Well things are coming along. I've packed all the gear up- luckily it all fits into my national geographic backpack! Talk about a heavy pack! I won't need a gym lugging this thing around everywhere! I've packed up all the essentials in this pack as well. If my luggage gets lost, at least I'll still be able to do a good bit of filming and hygiene. I'm going to feel sorry for the customs worker that has to go through this pack. :)
